SARAH SACKVILLE / SUSSEX, NB

Sarah Sackville attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, as one of 2 recipients of the Centennial Entrance Scholarship. After spending the summer and fall of 2001 traveling and painting throughout Europe, she settled down in British Columbia where she painted the forested West Coast landscape and the urban street life of Vancouver while becoming a journeyman cabinet maker. On a trip to Jamaica, Sarah fell in love with the people and painting the lush tropical landscape. She returned to Sussex in 2013 to pursue her career as a full time artist.

In her own words: “Each cultural landscape is a statement of society past and present. I am drawn to cultural landscapes and built environments that are rich in detail and full of life. My work documents a way of life as a moment in time; people living and working in their environment.”
