JOANNA POTTLE / SAINT JOHN,NB
Pottle sees pottery as a journey and her place in it through the tactile expression of clay. The Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River is her main source of inspiration. Pottle uses organic forms that sometimes loosely represent nature and other times are direct links. Her work is hand built and thrown on the wheel then cut and altered.
Pottle was raised in Westfield, NB. She attended the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design for the first time from 1993-1995 focusing on photography. She returned to the Craft College in 2002 and graduated with a Diploma in Studio Pottery in 2004. Since that time she has maintained a studio in Saint John. Joanna has attended workshops in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. She also teaches hand building workshops at her studio on the west side of Saint John. PHOTO SOURCE: createdheremag.com
