DAN STEEVES / SACKVILLE, NB
Dan Steeves is a New Brunswick based artist who teaches printmaking in the Fine Arts Department at Mount Allison University. He has received the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award, the Strathbutler Award for excellence in the arts, and won first place in Open Studio’s National Printmaking Award. He has also been elected to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. His work has been exhibited in public exhibitions across Canada, in the United States, as well as several countries throughout Asia, Europe and Ukraine.
His images are represented in the Canada Council and New Brunswick Art Banks and in public, institutional and private collections. He has published two books: "The Bone Fields" and T"he Light Lives in Darkness". In addition, he also published "The Mutability of Knowing", a boxed folio suite of images with printed essays by Andrew Steeves of Gaspereau Press. He was featured in the Devil’s Artisan 73 Journal of the Printing Arts in Tom Smart’s illustrated essay, ‘Dan Steeves: What Lies Unseen’. Recently he completed a new series titled "One Step Closer to Knowing" with letterpress printed text by Wendy Jones.
