Cathy Ross looks closely at objects and conveys her visual response to them. She collects items that capture her attention and keeps them in her studio as possible subjects for her work. Through careful observation, she captures the uniqueness and special character of each object. Sometimes elements are arranged in complex compositions, other times and other times she uses a single subject in isolation. Her paintings are meant to be intimate and encourage the viewer to pause and take in the subtle joy of the ordinary and the ephemeral beauty of the natural world.
