BRENT ROURKE / BLOOMFIELD, NB
Many boys learn woodworking at the hands of their father; large hands that cradle small hands, guiding them as they plane wood. For Brent, his life-long fascination and career with wood began with woodworking class when he was a teenager in high school. In his words, “Taking that first shaving from a piece of pine was better than holding hands with a girl.”
Upon graduating, he pursued his interest at the local college where he discovered Shaker boxes and carriers. He loved them for their classic lines and how they blended elegance with practical function; decorative boxes that are both traditional and contemporary at the same time.
Today, Brent works with the finest woods available: cherry, birds eye maple and unusual specialty woods to craft contemporary family heirlooms for discriminating individuals. Ensuring quality with high standards, he takes pride in the fact that every product that he creates from fine wood is naturally sourced in North America. PHOTO: brentrourke.com
